Individuals are not required to file a complaint with the University in order to receive remedies associated with issues of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct and may request to have an incident resolved informally. Requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the possiblity of honoring the request. Outcomes associated with informal resolution include, but are not limited to:
- No- contact directives
- Housing changes
- Schedule adjustments
- Restricted access
While informal resolutions are possible for some incidents, mediation is not appropriate, even on a voluntary basis, in matters involving allegations of sexual assault.
If the Associate Dean of Students in the University for Disciplinary Affairs resolves an incident informally, the Associate Dean of Students in the University may give the accused student an official warning and suspend specific student rights and privileges for a designated period of time. A copy of the written notice of warning to the accused student will be placed in the student's educational record.
